Mark Sanchez won’t practice or play; Jets won’t name starting QB

Rex Ryan confirmed that Mark Sanchez won’t practice or play this week due to what is being reported as a bruised shoulder.

Mark SanchezThe team will not confirm the diagnosis as anything more than a “shoulder injury.” Sanchez is officially listed as day-to-day.

“I’m not going to get into the details of the injury,” Sanchez told reporters on Monday.

The head coach said that his thoughts haven’t changed on playing Sanchez late in the game before his injury.

“I spent a lot of time discussing my answer then, after the game, and from my standpoint we have to move forward,” he said.

“They said to be ready to play, and I was ready to play,” Sanchez said.

Ryan said that the team still has no timetable on naming a starting quarterback.

“We’re not going to rush the decision until we’re completely comfortable with the decision,” Ryan said.
