Saunders out for Giants; accident report relased

The Jets remained mum on the health of rookie receiver Jalen Saunders on Monday as details emerged from his one-car accident Friday morning

Florham Park, N.J., police released an accident report which said Saunders had a “medical event” while driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla. Saunders, driving to the Jets facility to begin the trip to Cincinnati,  was attempting to make a left turn from southbound Park Avenue onto Florham Road about 7:50 a.m. He failed to make a full turn, crossed the northbound lanes and struck a curb before coming to rest in the grass, less than a mile from the facility.

Saunders was released from the hospital Sunday, and Rex Ryan said Monday  he won’t play Friday against the Giants (Newsday, Aug. 18).

“Right now, we’re taking a cautious approach with him, which is a smart approach,” Ryan said.

No medical details were released.

Saunders was back at the facility Monday. After working out on a stationary bike, he watched practice from the sideline.

WHAT IS GOING ON! A medical event? C'mon already... I'm being led to believe the most ridiculous thing's possible, its almost a joke. Why has nothing been released yet? Its either far too embarrassing that the police even feel bad to release what actually happened... I can't think of any other reason why the police wouldn't release specific details. Supposedly he's going to be interviewed today or tomorrow... I hope he's okay, but I'd really like to know why ANOTHER one of our rookies is sidelined...

2014 Toyota corolla? These young men blow their money on these fancy cars and jewelry then they're broke.

@Mike Milea Calm down. Nothing's been disclosed because Saunders has the legal right to have his medical records remain private, just like you do and everyone else. Now, I know what you're thinking. Why then do we hear about it every time someone tears an ACL, etc. I don't know for sure but I assume that as part of the collective bargaining agreement the players have agreed to allow football related injuries to be made public.

I don't think it can be too serious or Saunders wouldn't have been on the field yesterday. Sounds to me like he must have had some kind of dizzy spell or something like that. He's probably in some form of the concussion protocol and under observation although they aren't calling it that because they can't tie it directly to a specific play on the field. Or maybe he had a panic attack which would be unrelated to football (and totally minor in the grand scheme of things)  The fact that they are making him available to the media suggests to me that this can't be anything too serious and that he'll probably be back on the field in a couple of days. Of course, I'm totally speculating.
