Tannenbaum joins Miami as consultant

Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum has been hired by the Miami Dolphins as a consultant.

Tannenbaum will consult with the Dolphins on a variety of projects involving innovation, analytics and sports science. He will continue in his role at Priority Sports and Entertainment, Miami said.

“As an organization, we are committed to innovation and technology and we feel the creation of our analytics department and the development of our sports sciences program will help our personnel, coaching staff and players reach their full potential,” Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey said of Tannenbaum and his other recent hires.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

It is no secret that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross (a New Yorker) looks to the Jets organization as a template based on his frame of reference.  While Ross has done a number of things differently, there are plenty of of instances of coaches, players or staff have ties between the Jets and Dolphins going back to the Parcells era in New York.

Tannenbaum might be happy as an agent, but he understands the cap about as well as anyone and it is no surprise to me that he wants to stay relevant for another GM opening in the NFL could he get one.

After extending Mark Sanchez's contract, I wouldn't let Mike Tannenbaum anywhere near my team, this guy ought to be handing out towels in a locker room. I can't believe any team would bring this clown into their organization.

I'm not surprised that the Dolphins are employing analytics.

Analytics are going to impact everyone and every business.  If your kid is good at math you should encourage them to be a Data Scientist - the people who interpret the huge amount of data from the analytics.  It's a huge trend given the vast amount of data floating out there.

after looking at the Jets cap when Tannenbaum left, how could you not want to hire him?

Now that the Fins have hired Tannenbaum, their next move should be to hire Kotite....

Burg vs the Giants tonight 730 pm, smash mouth football baby!

UncleJoesJetFarm

Teams know the they cant run on the Jets so they will use those fast 3 step drops and spread it out all over the place to combat the pass rush and move chains and occasionally go deep. The Jets face severasl high octane offenses in the beginning and will be under air attack! http://tinyurl.com/66qkzpy

They say Tanny looked real good last night a 135 QB rating, 6/6 70 yards, no sacks!

UncleJoesJetFarm
UncleJoesJetFarm

The Farm is interested in how the Jets shake out vs the well balanced and tough Bengals, and for the love of the Farm, the offense has to score and make some plays! Also, the defense must not let the red rifle pick them apart, the run we will stop, but it is those quick short passes spread out is how teams will attack our defense this season. Oh Nellie!

The Farm sees a beautiful day coming up, lets go Gangrels!

Cooks... DAT.... that is all

Brandin Cooks looks really good for NO...sweet move for a TD.

Tre Mason looks like the real deal at RB too...

Teddy B. not looking too good for Minny but Bortles did well in his debut and Carr wasn't too bad despite a pick.

Smash mouth? Your Giants are a soft team, Joseph.

They also say a preseason game in early august means absolutely nothing.

@a57se

I told Brendan that Bortles would be good pre-draft and got a lecture (lol).......hahaha

Brandin Cooks was a no brainer pick for the Jets but they wanted to start Stephen Hill instead (incompetent management not drafting ANY of the top receivers despite having 12 picks)

@a57se

we whiffed badly on Cooks.. hopefully Pryor plays well.

Cooks does look good. Want to see him in the regular season, hopefully if he is good I hope Pryor is better.

It only makes sense for the Fins to sign Tebow if they also sign butffumble hairband to be his back up !!! They should then follow the Tannenbaum offensive blueprint and  sign Vlad as their lead blocker. It goes unspoken that the Fins should then trade a salami sandwich to the Jets so that they can acquire and start Stephen Hill as their #1 receiver........This would be a true reunification of a 1st round pick, two 2nd round picks, and of course monsieur wildcat (aka Timmy)

gotta tell ya...I wasn't thrilled watching Davis (i think) chasing TY Hilton (4 yds. behind) across the middle in the first quarter... that looked ugly.

Unless you are a NY Jets player and suck or play well...

@buckets You are full of football wisdom today, lol But if Geno lit it up in that 1st preseason game there would be a koolaid parade, lol

I watched Bottles. I saw a quarterback under zero pressure hitting wide open receivers.

@Marvel_ @a57se  doubt Jets would help him develop as much the Saints will, they are a top notch offensive team, Pryor should be a good player but not overnight, would have been nice to have Reed show him how to play the position

Actually, I couldn't care less about the preseason games. Unless it's an injury or a performance that is completely pathetic, it means nothing to me.

Yeah maybe that is because Jacksonville drafted Marques Lee and Allen Robinson.....and actually used draft picks to land some of the top receivers in the draft to help their QB......a concept the NY Jets are unable to understand....

By the way...the Jags have been one of the NFL's worst teams for a decade so maybe you should give Bortles some credit instead of acting like the Jags are a powerhouse franchise with a good offense......just sayin

@Bent @Bubby Brister

LB'ers should never be running after WR's on crossing routes....that is an easy completion for offenses...

UncleJoesJetFarm
UncleJoesJetFarm

@buckets For the most part true, but you can glean some good 411 if you don't over rely on stats and use more of the eye test, but overall, you are right.

Why would I give anyone any credit for a preseason performance? Let's see what happens when the pressure's on and teams start to come after Bortles.

It just isn't real football. The eyes can be easily deceived

Also, he didn't score, played against the second team, and neither Lee nor Robinson had a catch.

Missed my point....

I didn't watch the Jag game...My point is Jets offense could be managed much better in terms of the draft.......(in my opinion)

@bradysucks
Then you didn't do a good job of making your point.  Sorry dude.

I'm not sure how pointing to a quarterback that is behnd Chad Fraking Henne and two receivers who didn't do anything makes a case.

Also, since I got tired of explaining that buckets was mike francesser I switched back.
