Thursday Roundup: Rivalry Week
Here’s some interesting notes from Florham Park today
Swag on Medium – The Jets are walking tall this week as they get ready to head to New England. They aren’t backing down off the notion that they are one of the teams that have had the Patriots number over the past three years. That they’ll communicate, but it doesn’t sound like they’re trying to give any legitimate bulletin board material either.
Walking Wounded — Nick Mangold was back on the field today and should play Sunday, but the team is going lightly with his recovery from that ankle injury over a week ago. Rex didn’t rule out his running backs McKnight and Powell, but it stands to reason that they won’t be playing Sunday. McKnight told Connor Orr that “I’m playing. For first place. I’m playing.” Well we’ll see. As far as who will pick up the carries? Rex indicated to reporters that Tim Tebow might see more time on the field this Sunday specifically as a tailback. Guhhhhhh … Find more on the Star-Ledger website. Clyde Gates and Joe McKnight were both limited.
I See Sione! — Po’uha was back on the field in a limited capacity today, so that’s a good sign for the Jets defense. The team is going to be better with him than without him – if he’s healthy that is.
Emboldened on Specials — If Westhoff is reticent to use some more trickery on special teams, he’s not leading anyone to that belief by what he and his guys are saying to the press this week. They don’t feel like they caught the Colts unawares last week, just that they out-executed them.
