Aaron Glenn just went to the Browns.  He'll be tought to replace.

I like the Amaro pick but I have some concerns. Now the truth is this is just based on watching some highlight videos, I haven't watched a whole game of his so I may be off with this analysis.

Two things bother me most:

1) Can he handle an NFL arm? Like I said this evaluation is off of highlight reels but I never saw one play where the QB really rifled the ball at him. We all know Vick has a gun and if he's the QB can Amaro handle his passes?

2) He seems to fall a lot when trying to make a catch...he seems more concerned with making the catch then he does with yards after catch. I do want him to be concerned with making the catch but he needs to be able to do both, catch the ball securely and turn up field for some yards.

I hope someone with more knowledge of Amaro can ease these concerns...

Sounds good Corey.

OT, but Steve Kerr signed with Golden State. So, Tannenbaum has now f'ed up two NY sports franchises.

Does Corey have teeth?!? I watched that whole video without seeing his teeth once.

(dammit, I can't post a screengrab via SNY user login)

this guy is gonna wreak havoc. i think the whole thing hinges on two things - instead of 12 td's and 21 int's, we get 20-25 td's and 10 or 11 picks. second thing is the defensive backfield. if they hold up and our qb, whoever it may be can flip those numbers...we win 10-11 games.   as joe willie said..."i guarantee it"

A good TE is a young QB's best friend.   I can't wait to see Jace Amaro running around the middle of field.

Eric Decker and Chris Johnson joining Kerley and Ivory.  This offense is beginning to look like a potentially good one especially if another rookie WR can step up.

Lets remember we got the ramped up receiving corps we all agreed we wanted...

Amaro/Cumby/Sudfeld

Decker/Nelson/Kerley/plus new guy or Hill

plus Ivory/Johnson/Powell/ plus Goodson (God willing), in the backfield, and I'd say things are looking up...

I will be patient, and reserve judgement for the O line...(still have my concerns)

EXCELLENT pick. Hes basically an oversized receiver. Two TE sets with Cumberland will be money.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally watch a Plaxico Burress highlight video?

What concerns me more. Do the Jets have a QB with an NFL arm?

@Tequila Joe  Having watched a lot of full-game film, neither of these things concern me about Amaro.

@joemustgo

Steve Kerr has zero coaching experience and was going to try and turn around a bad basketball.

I don't think Tannenbaum f'ed the Knicks up,  but I do think he got his client a good deal with a good team.   Were the Knicks used.......oh yeah.

While I am curious what Kerr will be able to do for the Warriors,  I doubt Carmelo's decision to return hinges on Steve Kerr becoming head coach.

@bklyndude Agreed. Our offense was putrid last season and MM tried to make the best of it - young QB with little supporting cast on offense. We have a tough schedule and I am not confident we'll make the playoffs this year. However, if the D holds up and we have an average offense, we have a decent shot at making the playoffs.

@dabronx  She apparently believes it's inappropriate to wear a t-shirt that goes up to her neck or down to her bellybutton.  I approve of that lifestyle choice.

@MSAmaro should catch the ball consistently, Cumberland is not as reliable

@Tequila Joe @joemustgo  If I'm Steve Kerr, going to NYK and being compared to Mike Woodson and Mike D'Antoni seems like a better coaching debut than going to Golden State and being compared to Mark Jackson.

The chances that he fails to improve that already playoff ready team (that doesn't seem to have much ability to change their roster in any real way) and posts fewer wins than Jackson mananged seems high.  Where, in New York, just getting back to competitive, .500 basketball would be a victory, and in one year's time he and Phil will have a chance to drastically remake the roster however they see fit.

Kerr going to the Knicks wasn't going to happen. No way he was leaving Cali for NY.

No big deal, zero experience.

@dabronx @bklyndude

If the CB play is improved and can keep the deep ball conversions down to league average,  the only thing that concerns me is the number of games where the opposing teams TE hurt us consistently.

But the offense has so many more ways it can line up and actually hurt the other team this year.

@marcus81 @MS  Cumberland had best catch rate on the team at 67%.  Agree with @MS we should see a lot of 2 TE sets, and they should succeed.  Thrilled we got Amaro, and Cumberland is better than most give him credit for.

Kerr wasn't going to NY.

@bklyndude @dabronx  We face a murderer's row of top qbs this season.  I think if the offense can control the clock, win the field position game, and score some points we can win.

Need our qb to step up.

looking forward to this season.

@jdawggg @marcus81 @MS  And Cumberland, when he's on the field, will end up being matched up with the defense's 4th or 5th best cover guy.

Jeff Cumberland isn't perfect, but he can beat most dime corners or third safeties or sub-package LBs.
