TJB Year in Review: July 2013

With New Year’s and all the interest around any pending decisions, we took a few days off from the Year in Review posts … we’ll finish them up quickly over the next few days.  Here’s a quick look at all the happenings from the Jets of the last year, month by month.  Next up, July 2013 …

New turf was installed at MetLife for the Super Bowl while Bent answered his mail (1,2,3).  New Jersey Newsroom argued how the integrity of beat reporting is increasingly under question and Rex ran with the bulls.

We inducted our 2013 TJB Hall of Fame class.

Camp Cro got underway, while Jets West was more sparsely attended than in year’s past.  Even so, Sanchez was sure he would win the starting job.

As camp loomed, news started flowing in fast and furious.  Holmes was placed on the PUP, and was hesitant to assign a timetable … a timetable of “never” might have sufficed.  The Jets added some guy name Leger Douzable who turned out to be pretty damn good. Braylon Edwards signed with the Jets for one last ride and had a message for fans.

Trust a kicker to be the first man to training camp.  Aaron Berry’s camp was short-lived.  R in CT took some great pictures, Corey and I did some video diaries from camp: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 & Day 4.  We also talked to Nick Mangold about hamburgers and Willie Colon about playing in New York.  Brian Baldinger questioned Geno’s conditioning (he seemed fast enough this season to me) and the Jets might or might have practiced some Pistol sets.

I stayed dry while Corey and our video producer Jeff got soaked. We diagnosed some blocking drills.  The Jets finally signed Dee Milliner.  Sheldon Richardson won’t be doing this next summer at training camp.

Random stuff? Schein wasn’t fond of the Jets talent level. Mangold knew Mo was in for some big things. Parcells said he was at his best when with the Jets. LolaSportsTalk released his best images from his 2012 season-long sojourn.  Maybe we should have re-read this article more about Idzik’s level of say. A t-shirt became famous.

so funny in july 2013 we were a circus and rated 30th in the power rankings...after all said and done we missed the playoffs by one game with a  team who didnt have a game changing superstar on offense quite a few injuries and one of the youngest teams in the league

I'm still so sad that the Dolphins got knocked out of the playoffs by the Jets.

Such a shame, such a shame.

Oh, I wonder which Dolphins execs will get fired?

:-)

The question I have is - If Tampa decides 16MM is too much for a CB  (I think it is), will they negotiate a lower paying contract, or will Revis go Free Agent?

If he goes Free Agent, I wonder if he would come back to the Jets?

That would be something, a one year rental, at the cost of a mid round #1 and #4, while the player recovers from a serious injury.

With a blizzard or near blizzard approaching the northeast, it was nice to see that photo of BossHogg carrying those helmets at Cortland....warm weather, shorts, green grass, and blue sky with the sun beating down. Ahh....can't wait till training camp.

If he is willing to negotiate his contract, I would really like to keep Cromartie a Jet.  I will never forget his many spectacular plays and how he stood up after the Revis injury. I certainly hope he heals his hip well this off season, and can be part of our bolstered secondary in 2014...

Who do we play this week?

Darrelle Revis @Revis24

I'm excited about the future for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Heard some great things about Lovie Smith & can't wait to finally meet him.

Team Revi$ will go to whoever pays them $1 more, regardless of how good they are or what defensive scheme they play.

Even with auto-focus?

Tip for the future: take a video and pick which frame you want. 5 seconds of video equals at least 120 images to choose from.

Fortunately for me, my company eliminated random drug testing due to budget cuts. Who says you can't prosper in a downturn?

@juunit And when it all comes down to it, that's the only question that matters.
