New York Jets CB Dee Milliner, 12.22

On the Browns continuing to throw at him…

We knew that was going to happen so I just tried to keep my composure. My teammates and the coaches stayed on me. I tried to go out there and do what I do.

On why he was matched up against Josh Gordon…

Coach just came to me and told me I was going to be on him. When he told me, I do whatever my coaches tell me so I just watched a lot of film, worked hard in practice, (and the scout team showed the same plays) that they ran in the game.

On leading the team in tackles…

It’s been (an) up and down (year). I just try to go out there and try to get better each week. Just try to help my team as much as I can.

On some of the things he saw watching film of Josh Gordon…

We knew he was going to run a lot of digs (and) verts. Depending on where he was lining up. If he was inside the slot, they were going to try to give it to him and isolate him. We knew those things. Coach called coverages to prevent the big plays that he usually gets.

New York Jets LB Calvin Pace, 12.22

On how he will celebrate his 10 sacks…

We got Christmas coming up, so can’t wait to open presents with the kids, that’s how I’m going to celebrate. This year has been great playing with these guys, I really couldn’t have done it without them. It’s a lot of them and just a little bit of me. My job is easy and its fun when I’m playing with three other great players on the defensive line. I give them a lot of credit, I do, and Rex (Ryan) for believing in an older guy who most people said his best years were behind to him. Again, I give everybody else credit. I was just fortunate to be put in the situation where I was able to make some plays this year.

On the team battling and their character…

You sign up for 16 games. It’s a tough sport, it’s the best against the best. I think everybody is man enough to realize we had a golden opportunity in front of us, but we just didn’t capitalize on it. That’s doesn’t mean you go out there and you lay down there for the last two games. I think everybody kind of looked at it that like this was our AFC Championship game and our Super Bowl will be in Miami. Just finish strong, that’s all you can do. I think everybody had the mindset to play for the next man and finish strong.

On if it has been exciting to watch Geno Smith develop…

Yeah, man. Geno, he has the tools, (he has) everything he needs to be a quarterback, he just has to play with confidence. You see when he plays with confidence, he’s a good quarterback. It takes time, he’s a rookie. This time last year he was in bowl practices. It’s a process. He just needs to build, build on all the wins (and) the good. There is always positives in every game, it’s just about moving forward and trying to get better every week. Just finish the season off strong and take it into next year.
