Transcripts: Wilkerson, Coples, DeVito 12/10/12

DL Muhammad Wilkerson, 12.10

On getting teams off the field on third down…

All of the coaches, position coaches and defensive coordinator, are putting together a great game plan. All 11 guys are getting out there and executing.

On if he is focused on the playoffs…

Our next playoff game is Tennessee. All we can focus on is the next game. We can’t focus on or worry about any playoff pictures. We just have to worry about our next opponent, and that’s Tennessee on Monday night.

On back-to-back wins…

It felt good to get two back-to-back wins. We’re just going to make sure we prepare for Tennessee. We know they’re going to give us all they’ve got and hopefully we get the win.

On being mentioned for the Pro Bowl…

I give the credit to (Coach Rex Ryan). I’m proud to be a Jet. They brought me here. I’m going to continue to play like a Jet and do my best for the defense.

DE Quinton Coples, 12.10

On what he can attribute his improvement to…

I think (getting) more reps and more opportunities to go out there on third down and even second-and-long as well. (Getting) more reps, staying in my play book and working on the things that my coaches are coaching me on.

On whether getting more playing time earlier in the season has helped him…

Yes, I definitely think so. Anytime you get out on the field, it’s a learning experience. You definitely want to take advantage of the opportunities. I’m excited about getting out there each and every week.

On transitioning from college to the NFL…

It’s two different games. Going from college to the NFL is definitely a lot different. I don’t know if you can compare the two (in terms of) the level of intensity and the different levels of play. I’m still learning, still grasping everything and I think everything is falling into place.

DE Mike DeVito, 12.10

On whether he’s surprised in the shift in opinion going from the loss to New England to two straight wins…

Being here in New York for six years, it’s something that I find myself doing, watching other teams now. It’s like, “Oh, one loss, it’s the end of the world and one win, they’re going to win everything.” It’s kind of the way the atmosphere is around here and you have to recognize that and realize that the worst thing you can do is when things like that are happening is to pack it in and really believe that either way, you just have to continue each week to be consistent and get better.

On whether he shifts his opinion when the Jets are losing…

No, because I know the type of thing we have (and) I know the guys that are in this locker room, I know that each week we’re going to continue to work hard and to get better. We really want to win this game no matter what the situation or scenario is, we’re going to fight to win this game.

On whether he’s looking ahead to the playoffs…

I think next week. Me personally, I always think next week. I think to the next game.  I don’t do well when I start thinking ahead. The focus is on Tennessee. Let’s control what we can control in front of us.
