DeVito Injures Calf in Practice

Bad news out of practice today.  Defensive line stalwart Mike DeVito pulled a calf muscle according to ESPN NY and his timetable for recovery is unknown.

DT Mike DeVito pulled a calf muscle in practice and was unable to finish. That type of injury, Ryan said, “is never good for a defensive lineman.” DeVito is a key player, so this bears watching. Presumably, he won’t play this week, meaning rookie DE Quinton Coples could get the start in the 3-4.

Not good.  While we like Coples, DeVito is one of the best run-stuffing linemen in the game.  Having him ready for the season is the priority and we get the sense that his health could be a storyline for the season at this rate.
