This season, rookies Geno Smith, Dee Milliner, & Brian Winters have remained as starters, although their play was sub-par for most of the season.  I think that it had to be Idzik who forced these players down Rex's throat.  Reason being that, Rex has to know that his job is on the line.  Keeping those players in the line-up did not give Rex his best chance to win.  These players are Idzik draft picks.  Do you think it is Idzik who has demanded that they start and, if so, do you think this has been the right thing to do?

If they fire Rex what coaches would you hope the new HC would keep?

Why did my older brother bring me up as a Jets fan and then switch to being a Pats fan, leaving me in this endless cycle of disappointment? Does he not love me?

Bassett and Corey since this season is washed up garbage at this point lets talk draft (Sammy Watkins?), and most importantly the ranking of all Christmas movies. Below is my top-5

1. Die Hard

2. Home Alone

3. Elf

4. Christmas Vacation

5. Home Alone 2

This season and last season are all Bent's fault. Bent hates offense and he is the backbone of the Jets blog. (lol)

Bassett commends Bent and therefore puts up with this blog's hatred of offense, Shame on Basset. Shame on Bent. You gotta score to win in this league fellas! Yeah, I'm busting on you both - Maybe it is time for the leaders of the Jets blog to hold the guys drafting players for the NY Jets accountable for not drafting any top playmakers since Freeman McNeil, Mickey Shuler, and Keyshawn Johnson.

Still love the blog....and think both you guys are great....but please...lets call a spade a spade and start writing some stories about focusing on offense in a league that is all about scoring points

Often, when talking about a failing player, we admit that it is "time to move on" from him.  Would you guys ever consider moving on to a viable team?  You do a great job with the blog and the pod casts.  It's a shame to waste the effort on these perennial disappointments.  I'm thinking with a few color theme changes, we could switch to a team that respects us more as fans.

Hi,

I am starting to think that Geno and Rex should be given another year. I find them both endlessly frustrating - Geno for obvious reasons and Rex with Ed Reed / Cromartie / loyalty to 'my guys'.

However, I am starting to see Geno's first season as similar to Nick Foles' with the major difference that Foles had Vick to sit behind and learn from while having the benefit of a full offseason program. He has since flourished since he is now starting. I don't believe Geno will quite achieve Foles-ian heights of play, but I do believe he should be given a chance to improve and go into camp as the frontrunner. alongside a capable veteran e.g. Locker (if cut), Vick, Bradford (if cut), Henne, Cassell, Cousins (3rd / 4th rounder?). If Geno has improved, they will be a serviceable backup, should any slump occur. If not, they will be potentially competent, as we will have more weapons around us next year (sensible drafting permitting).

If Geno is given time to improve, I think Rex has to stay as, if he goes, as does most of the other Coordinators and that means a new system to learn. In that scenario, Geno becomes the back up to either a newly drafted QB or a Cutler-esque veteran.

While this is my preference, I still would have no problem with Rex being fired. His handling of Ed Reed / Antonio Allen made me lose some respect for him as a coach, as did I think the handcuffing of Geno in the Ravens / Dolphins games.

@Hanknaples

10 reasons Eric Mangini stunk as a head coach:

1-10 - Pretty much all those reasons you just listed.

@levi If Marty is gone, I still can't get past the idea that we will have had 4 OCs in 4 years.

@marshrandy What about Charlie Brown...and Disney's Christmas Carol.  Does the Snowman count?

I watched this Australian Christmas film once and it was bizarre because they have their Summer over there at this time of year, so you had like sunbathing reindeers and songs about the sun shining on Christmas day.

@marshrandy Christmas Vacation is one of my favorites. "Shltters full."  But I think the old cartoon The Grinch who stole Christmas has to be on there somewhere.

@marshrandy Christmas Vacation? Love Actually wasn't bad for a rom com.  Best of course is Nightmare Before Christmas.

@bradysucks Woah, the 30th team in total offense needs to address the offense? Someone give bradysucks his own ESPN show for solving the mystery of the Jets troubles

@Gavin David Buck Options the way I see it:

1. Geno starts, draft another mid-rounder with upside, low level vet like Cassel or Flynn or may the best man win in camp.

2. Sign older vet like Schaub, Hill, McCown (starts), Geno watches potentially takes over ala SF Kap, mid-rounder with upside

3. Sign Bradford, Locker, Cutler (starts for years), Geno, late qb pick

4. Somehow draft your new starter, Geno backup, low level vet insurance. More growing pains.

Did I miss anything? What would you all do?

@Hanknaples I will check into him Hank because youve mentioned him to me a couple times now but my question was what coaches on the Jets staff would you keep? I know you liked Pettine once he left the Jets so maybe theres more....

@marshrandy He aint gonna turn Sanchez or Geno into Kurt Warner. ( Geno could still be good though)

@Bent @marshrandy I was gonna mention Charlie Browns Christmas but if he shot down the Grinch surely he wouldnt live tweet Chuck either.

You got me laughing about this Australian Christmas thing.

@levi @marshrandy it's certainly a classic but as far as movies I watch multiple times every christmas season these are my top 5. Can't see myself live tweeting the grinch

The Jets were 30th in offense in 2012 also......

The organization's solution was to use BOTH 1st round picks on defenders and a 3rd round pick on a guard and 2 of their later round picks on o-lineman who don't play and a FB who was a bulddy of the GM's son...

So perhaps stating the OBVIOUS is necessary

@Bent I believe hes a Dr now so its all about being medicated. Im gonna have to check out this Austrian Christmas movie.

I can imagine Johnny Reefer getting a kick out of that one, if he were in the (cough) right frame of mind.
