IF THEY CAN GET HIM WHY NOT KEY CAN THEY GET HIM.CRUZ AND JACKSON ON THE FIELD AT THE SAME TIME WHO DO U DOUBLE?

Geeez, I hate to bring race into this equation, but as soon as the media ties a black guy to gangs/drugs/crime, everyone just eats it up, no questions asked....  Is everyone aware of the fact that DeSean Jackson has never committed a crime?  He got busted once for having weed in his car (go ahead, tell me none of you smoke pot) and it got dropped.  This was about money, pure and simple.  The eagles wanted him to take a pay cut, but he refused (as well he should, he's more than earned his keep.)  They tried shopping him around the league, but he refused to renegotiate his contract, making a trade impossible.  Philly figured they could get a WR on the cheap this year through the draft, so they cut him and leaked that nonsense about "gang connections" to justify the move to their fan base.  I'm sure there are idiots in Philly praising the eagles for cutting their best player in his prime.  Wake up people.  I'd take him in a heartbeat.

How much of those millions he rakes in are used to finance gang activities like drug dealing? This guy was number 1 in Philly and just let go like this? PLEAZZZE!! keep him away from the Meadowlands.

As with every "hated" player, Giant fans would embrace him.  If teams like the 49ers are looking at him, why not?  Eli needs all the help he can get.  If he isn't sporting colors and gang signs on game day, bring him in!

He does not seem like a culture fit with the Gmen.  Who love solid character guys, but man, we could use some explosiveness on the outside.

the ends doesn't justify the means....too many character issues

Desean embodies EVERYTHING that the giants culture is not. He's a total loser, thug had scumbag. It's on display everything he takes the field. He has no respect for the game he's lucky to play for a living. If we sign him I'll sell my PSLs and be a bills fan

the jints signed jerry that was a disappointment at least to me, i can't believe they will do likewise with jackson but only time will tell.

From a talent perspective, he would be a no brainier upgrade. From an intangible perspective he could destroy a team.

Let someone else take the risk. He's going to KC or Jets

Although the upside is there, I have no interest in signing him. There's been numerous reports of him being a problem in the eagles lockerroom since he was drafted. He makes boneheaded plays far too often.

I'll take what we have plus a TE + WR reinforcement from this years draft instead.

Say no? are you kidding me! Desean on this team would be PERFECT! Him and Cruz would kill!

In 2013, ProFootball Focus had DeSean Jackson as
16th in catch rate (68.9%)
tied for 12th in yards after catch (6.0)

Off the field stuff aside, to argue that he is not one of the best receivers in the NFL is just silly.

Ding Dong the Witch is Gone. As long as he doesn't go to Dallas or Washington its a great day for the Giants and the NFC East. For all the great things Philly did getting rid of Desean makes them worse. Much worse. Who am I worried about Riley Cooper? Jeremy Maclin? Not likely.

Don't want him, not for a second. And I don't have to worry about the Giants signing him because they won't...not a chance in hell he ends up on Big Blue.

"Giant fans will not stand to see him in Blue."
Don't be ridiculous.  No one cares where you came from so long as you embrace the team, perform and behave.

"
With the recent signings of Trindon Holliday, Quentin Demps and Mario Manningham, they really don’t have a place for Jackson anyhow."

A second star receiver would certainly help.  So that isn't true.  And they could find some cap space for him.  remember that a lot of the players that currently count against the cap will need to be cut.

Having said all of this?  Will the Giants sign him?  He doesn't seem like their kind of player.  He sounds like a prima donna and Coughlin likes team players.

But if everyone could get over all of that, there is no questioning Jackson's talent.

Hell to the no.

Overrated punk. Unless he gets clear separation and beats the db over the top, he borders on useless. He's a one dimensional deep threat and while that may have some benefit to the g-men, Jerry can pick one up in the third round of the draft.

Pass.

@Max Denby  ONE QUESTION TELL ME WHO WOULD BE BETTER IN THE DRAFT

@Richard George Novotny III  ..... Although I respect his talent, your plan is probably a better (safer) way of pursuing the Giants' receiving needs, and would cost a whole lot less than paying for a potential locker room headache in Jackson.

@Matthew Cohen  That's my point...he can't "embrace the team, perform and behave." Never has and never will

@spider43 @Richard George Novotny IIII keep hearing how ridiculously deep the draft is at Reciever this year (I say it this way because I do no research aside from reading mock drafts, even then usually only rounds 1-3). So why not?

If the draft was paper thin on WR and TE, that'd be a different story.

Top 51 Contracts 116,477,714
Add $5,000,000 for draft picks (approximately)
Remove $2,500,000 for 5 cuts (Giants can only have 53 players on the roster)
$2,778,141 dead money
$984,054 - remove as adjustment from previous years

$122,739,909 total current spend
$133,000,000 total cap

$10,260,091 in free space (plus $500,000 for the guy who would be cut that Jackson would replace).

So - yes there is room if the Giants wanted to make a move.

@Matthew Cohen $10MM in free cap space on March 29th is nothing in NFL terms.  Sure, they could use it for a Jackson type, but then they would be strapped going forward into the draft and over the next months as injuries and opportunities pop up.  Be real.  Jerry has spent his wad for better or worse and we have to live with it.  I don't think they want Jackson anyway, but if they did they are not really in a position to sign a high priced player without leaving themselves exposed.

@fast_eddie @Matthew Cohen

While stranger things have happened, I tend to agree.  As noted above, he's not a Coughlin player.

On the other hand, the Giants signed one of the Bullygate linemen.
Also, if Jackson wants to stick it to the Eagles - the Giants are his best landing spot.

The Giants have only so more years with Eli and adding Jackson would again give them a top receiving trio.  The last time they had that, they won a Super Bowl.
