The future of Braylon Edwards has been subjected to hotly contested debates ever since the free agent receiver went un-signed by the Jets. After gaining little interest on the market, the 49ers took a chance. Unfortunately for Edwards, a knee injury shut him down before any meaningful progress was achieved. Now a free agent, fans are wondering why the Jets aren’t pouncing. Our man Steiny is reporting that Rich Cimini has overheard that it has been a struggle towards recovery for the former Wolverine.
That would certainly explain what has essentially been a public shunning by the NFL. Add in his off the field issues and it makes sense. Whether the Jets are interested in bringing Braylon back or not still remains somewhat unclear but ultimately they will likely look towards the draft to upgrade given the depth of the 2012 receiving class.
