49ers agree to trade Alex Smith to Chiefs

The San Francisco 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. The trade won’t be official until March 12th.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Chiefs will trade second-round pick this year–the top pick in second round–as well as another conditional mid-round pick in 2014.

For anyone wanting the Jets to make a trade for him you can forget it. A second round pick seems about right. The Chiefs have a good running game with Charles, a decent wide receiving core depending on what they’re going to do with Bowe, and an improving defense. Overall this is a good trade for Kansas City. In a corresponding move, the Chiefs are expected to release Matt Cassel. Should the Jets give him a look?

I'm excited to see where Donnell goes this season-he's still developing-was not a TE coming out of college.Still have some faith in Robinson but this has to be the year he steps it up or he's gone.Some of the kids look interesting especially Tye.

Perhaps the problem of unproductive TE's is related to the fact that they fired their legendary TE coach

REESE fubar'd the Black Unicorn from Day 1, with his 1 year Show & Go contract.  He is EXACTLY what ELI needs.

2012 NYG: 55 rec, 626yds, 5 TD's

2013 CHI: 65 rec, 759yds, 5 TD's... D'Bear's where  a complete Hot Mess.

2014 CHI: 90 rec, 916yds, 6 TD's... D'Bear still a Hot Mess

@Skookaloop  I think it was a matter of their luck of "just plug anyone in there, and Eli will make him look good" finally ran out after Bennett left.  Boss, Ballard, Bennett.

Why is Chicago looking to move Bennett?  Too expensive?  Because can you ask more out of a TE than 90 catches, 900 yards, and 6 TDs?  I didn't see a lot of Chicago's games last season, but I recall his season in NY, and he wasn't a terrible run blocker either.  So it's odd that the Bears would be looking to unload him.

@Michael Frias

my friend is a Bear's fan,

he said the Black Unicorn is getting paid: 2015 $6.1 / $2.2 Dead money. 2016 $6.3 / $ 1.2 Dead Money.

but Bennett has been mouthy, an is playing hardball, by skipping OTA's looking for a long term deal. Bennett said something like " if the Bears where going to trade me, they would have done it before the draft. "
