Audible: What’s Your Plan?

Now that February is upon us, that means the new league year begins next month. Therefore, the Jets have plenty of decisions to make in terms of who stays and who goes, who gets an extension, who gets traded and who gets their contract restructured, plus who to draft, sign and make a trade for when the NFL’s doors open for business.

Let’s get some sense of what you guys would do. If you’re prepared to open your own ideas up to criticism, then we can get some good conversation going and TJB readers can tell you how they’d tweak your plan to make it perfect.

Bonus points for any outside the box thinking.

Ready, set, GO!

Nice picks guys but all wrong imo; giants take defense in the first 2 rounds.

Gurley has not done anything via the Combine or Pro Day to warrant suddenly being touted as a Top 10 selection. This is definitely a smokescreen being employed by teams who want Gurley to be selected in the Top 10 so some other talent can fall to them. I would be happy if Gurley went Top 10 to someone picking before the Giants do, because that would give the Giants a better chance of getting their hands on a Beasley or Dupree. I am now convinced that Cooper and White will not be available for the Giants at #9, and I want no part of Parker at that selection because he hasn't proven he can stay healthy enough.

I also hope the Giants don't draft Scherff. If he's being projected as a Guard, then drafting a Tackle and shifting him to Guard at the #9 selection is a wasted pick, since they can pick up a good Guard later in the draft for value on a player who plays that position naturally.

@spider43

100% agree on RB Gurley smoke screen...

but OG Scherff would help the running game Huge.

but i think they may go LT/LG La'el Collins, he has better feet and is a better pass blocker, a great run blocker and from the NYG farm team LSU.

Beatty is 30, and Collins could play LG for 2 years then slide over to LT in 2017.

@spider43 He didn't participate to remain on track with rehabilitation on his knee. His numbers and game film warrant a top 10 selection. This guy is a top 5, maybe top 3 prospect in this draft.

This is not a smoke screen and Gurley will be drafted in the top 10. He is the real deal!

Don't care if Scherff is projected as a guard if he can be dominant take him. People said the same stupid stuff last year about Zach Martin and guess what he made the freaking pro bowl and changed the Cowboys line. You are resting you hopes on the Giants taking a linebacker in the top 10? That is about as unlikely as the Giants moving up and selecting Winston. Giants draft history the past 30 years tells you that.

Mr.F---

REESE had a chance to add RB Marshaw Lynch in 2010 for a 4th & 5th round draft pick and didn't.....

Giants want Lynch ability not the Lynch headache.

anyway you look at it if the jints take bpa and don't reach for need there will a very talented player on the roster this year.

apropos, there are a lot misdirection plays going on right now - orchestrated by those 'in-the-know'......again, IMO, the Giants should take a top-5 RB - in round 2...Coleman, Ajayi, Duke Johnson.......after taking an alpha WR in round 1.......weaponize the most important player on your team: Eli......the offense becomes scary-elite with 2 picks......no doubt at all that Gurley is a big talent.....no doubt at all that the 3 RB's above are also big talent.........we need dynamic play makers....I believe Eli has another SB Trophy in him......this draft is deep in talent........WR & RB with picks 9 & 40......that's my response to the scouts..............

First why are you talking in War terms."weaponize"? What exactly do you mean like reese should draft a WR who will make our offense so deadly it kills 6 million within 20 miles? please leta maintain reality this is a game not war. Second, how about protecting you biggest asset. A great running back or offensive linemen goes a lot further than another WR in unit that is already the strongest on the team.

BOOYAh!! Sorry John I beat you to this prediction. I said a few times on this blog that I thought Gurley was a serious dark horse selection. He is rising fast and may not even be available.

The Giants tried to get a stud running back and thought they had it in Wilson. But Gurley is a lot better than Wilson as a prospect. Why have 3 or 4 backs on your roster when you can have 1 that equals all their skills and more.

Again I would not personal take a running back but don't be surprised. Reese likes explosive players or play makers and that's Gurley. Cooper, Waynes, and Gurley are all in serious play I bet.

@jaymanjay We're on the same page here and have been for a few weeks! Cooper or Gurley at 9!

Obtaining Gurley at #9 would be a dream pick for the Giants. I've been touting him since January (given a medical clearance). Gurley would be the perfect fit. However, I would be shocked if he wasn't selected by the Jets or the Falcons before #9.

@royhobbs7 The real concern is with the Falcons at 8 and the dark horse, Raiders at 4. The Raiders have been linked to AP, who not draft AP 2.0 whose 10 years younger and take a big target WR like Green-Beckham in round 2?

The NFL needs to move the draft to Mid-April!
