While everyone’s attention this week will be on the draft, don’t rule out the Jets making some veteran additions. You may recall that they announced the signing of veteran guard Stephen Peterman on day two of the draft last year. With that in mind, Adam Caplan reports the following:
Bent, TheJetsBlog.comMeskó has a good reputation, mostly based on the fact that he was a highly regarded draft prospect four years ago (eventually going to New England in the 5th round). However, if you look at his numbers in recent years, he hasn’t been very good. His net average was actually almost a yard less than Robert Malone’s in 2012 and last year he had some of the worst numbers in the league as he was released by New England, then lasted just seven games with the Steelers.
It is good to see that the Jets are looking at possible upgrades for every position, but there’s no guarantees that Meskó would be an instant improvement over what they already have if they did sign him. With four picks in the sixth round or later, maybe they’ll consider adding a punter via the draft.
