Colon tore bicep, will need surgery

Willie Colon tore his bicep during the final game of the season (Cimini).

He will need surgery to repair the tear and recovery time is usually four months.

Colon will be an unrestricted free agent.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Colon did a solid fill-in job for the Jets in 2013.  While it was good that the Jets got a full season of health out of Colon, this is bad news and timing for the veteran.  We wish Colon a speedy recovery from the surgery, but the recuperation time from torn biceps surgeries can take a while, as noted above.  Still, he might be ready for minicamps if the Jets want to bring him back …

Not overly concerned about him being ready for OTA's, just as long as he is ready for training camp..

That's a shame. Really like his toughness and want him back for what will probably be a very low fee.

Brian, you said it takes 4 mos recovery, but if you have a chance are there stats / history wrt  how long it takes an OL player to be effective after biceps surgery? With the size & speed of d-lineman, seems it may take quite a bit of time.

I hope this makes it easier to resign him for a year, maybe two.
