And for the Jets. One less defensive coach in the AFCE! MarshRandy 5pts Interesting stat I just saw on twitter: Jeremy Maclin has scored a TD more recently than Hakeem Nicks fourbten 5pts All this nonsense about Pete Carroll, and the fact that he is successful now doesn't negate the fact that he was the worst coach the Jets ever had. Kotite had a worse record, but his team never quit on him. The way that the team played for Carroll was one of the most disgraceful displays ever. He HAD to be fired because they were stealing from the fans and it couldn't be disguised. Jeff E. Guy 5pts "I mean, you don't get rid of a guy like [Darrelle] Revis and then get rid of a guy like Cromartie.''Obviously Jammer has never heard of the New York Jets.... DrJonathanReefer 5pts If you guys read that book, Rex is very big on having his own coaching tree and he always wanted Pettine to get a HC gig. Same with a lot of his coaches. On a side note, I feel bad for Wayne hunter cuz of this book too. djf1 5pts @Marcus Armstrong I agree. I'd rather face more offense-happy teams that Rex can stop, rather than good defenses. Pat Leonard 5pts @Marcus Armstrong We (Browns fans) are starting to get pretty excited about the Pettine hire. He seemed like a blah candidate at first, but after reading up on him, it definitely seems like he's ready for the jump to HC. Here's hoping the toxic negativity around my favorite team doesn't prove to be too much for him like it was for Chudzinski. Brendan 5pts @Marcus Armstrong And another notch in Rex's coaching tree, not bad for a big fat dummy idiot push-over. bob 5pts @MarshRandy I say sign Maclin and Nicks..get her done. SackDance99 5pts @fourbtenLeon Hess made coaching the Jets impossible and the front office was a joke after Steinberg's death/illness. Hiring Richie Kotite was emblematic of the Hess ownership period and his impatience with Carroll, who was trying to change the culture of the Jets along while growing in the role of HC, was a disgrace. Players couldn't wait to leave the Jets after Carroll was fired and Pete was Lombardi and Noll combined compared to Kotite. ww85 5pts @fourbtenCarroll never lost that team. Read what Esiason & others have to say about that season. Hess never liked Carroll much & he loved Kotite for reasons we will never understand. a57se 5pts @fourbten Are you a Leon Hess descendant? There is no way you can say that Kotite was better than Carroll., that is just silly. jaygo 5pts @fourbten And, he HAD to leave USC for multiple violations . . . SackDance99 5pts @Jeff E. GuyYeah, and you don't get rid of a guy like Lawyer Milloy and then get rid of Ty Law.... Pat d 5pts At the salary that they are both making yes you do get rid Revis and Cro. djf1 5pts @Jeff E. Guy because cro was so great last year? Brendan 5pts @Jeff E. Guy Who the hell cares what Quentin Jammer thinks about the Jets' roster? djf1 5pts @DrJonathanReefer why? Marcus Armstrong 5pts @Pat Leonard @Marcus Armstrong I think you guys are on the up, honestly. Better team than given credit for, and with the Steelers and Ravens declining, it's a good time. Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @Marcus ArmstrongMore like a KNOT than a NOTCH in Rexy's tree, don't you think???? rstysanchz 5pts @Brendan i was surprised to see all the defensive guys who came from brian billicks coaching tree who was an offensive coach bradysucks 5pts Why sign guys who are constantly injured like Nicks & Maclin!??! Makes no sense unless the contracts are incentive driven based on playing time and performance... Marcus Armstrong 5pts @bob @MarshRandy Maclin would be great, but he's not leaving Philly. MarshRandy 5pts @bob @MarshRandy I'm anti-Nicks at the contract I'm assuming he'll ask for. But if we can get him in a highly incentivized deal then I think that could work out great fourbten 5pts @a57se@fourbtenThey were both terrible, obviously. Only as Jets fans could we have such a discussion. It's like choosing between syphilis and gonorrhea. But the team QUIT on Carroll - unforgivable. johnnyl65 5pts @jaygo @fourbten He didn't have to leave,he resigned to become the Seahawks coach before the charges came out.. a57se 5pts @SackDance99and Richard Seymour or Asante Samuel or Randy Moss....... Marcus Armstrong 5pts @Brendan @Jeff E. Guy I'm sure he did an in depth study of our Defensive back play before making these comments. DrJonathanReefer 5pts He reads like a really good hearted guy, from a very tough background who worked his tail off but then got death threats from our fan base. If that's not a confidence killer nothing is. The toxic jet fans and media destory another mans life. Brendan 5pts @djf1 Seeing a grown man receive death threats for how he plays a sport is pretty terrible. Pat d 5pts I agree Hank rstysanchz 5pts @Marcus Armstrong @Pat Leonard this is a huge draft for the browns...they are a young team on the verge of being good with 2 first rounders...if they mess up this draft they should move to baltimore again Hanknaples 5pts @Pat dThe AFCN is the New NFL's Black and Blue Division !!The Browns could NOT have hired a Better, TOUGHER, Dedicated and Demanding coach to match up with Tomlin and Harbaugh !!!!If Pettine gets the backing of the Cleveland Media Sharks, it will be a VERY EXCITING time for Cleveland !!!!BIG break that Rossi was fired by the Plain Dealer !!!! Hanknaples 5pts @Pat dAFCN is the New NFL's Black and Blue Division and the Browns Could NOT have hired a BETTER, TOUGHER, more DEDICATED more Demanding Coach to match up with Tomlin And Harbaugh !!!!!If Pettine has the support of the Cleveland Media Sharks, it will be a VERY Exciting time for Cleveland !!!! ww85 5pts Pettine is pretty well liked by most Jet fans. He also has the benefit of learning from some of Rex's mistakes. I think he'll be a winner. Pat d 5pts The Browns have the draft picks to get their QB in this draft. Two in the first round. Pat Leonard 5pts @Marcus Armstrong Like the Jets, the Browns would be a much better team if they had consistent play at QB. We're hoping the front office can get it right and find that guy in this year's draft, but who knows. As for Pettine, I'm very interested to see what he can do with Barkevious Mingo. Mingo has too much talent to have the mediocre rookie season that he had. Pat d 5pts Hank couldn't have said it better DrJonathanReefer 5pts Maclin has been constantly injured?? a57se 5pts @fourbtenNo, a few players that would have been purged from the team quit on Carroll. Leon Hess decided to take charge and showed just how little he knew about football. ww85 5pts The USC charges were BS. if you read what really happened, it's pretty clear that the most serious allegations related to Reggie Bush had nothing to do with Carroll. Pat d 5pts The USC violations were not as great as other recent violations at other schools but USC made the mistake of not cooperating with the NCAA investigation. jetlife 5pts @johnnyl65 He knew they were coming down the pipeline and left ASAP. Granted, it was a promotion, but to say the impending sanctions played no part is naive. Hanknaples 5pts @Disgruntled Jets Fan @Hanknaples @a57seWOW....JUST INCREDIBLE.!! I hope some of those kids are still able to walk......specially those doing reverse Giants and impacting the bar squarely at their waists/backs !!!! Disgruntled Jets Fan 5pts @Hanknaples @a57se Hank's mental gymnastics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cXG1gorJn0 (Sorry Hank, couldn't resist.) Hanknaples 5pts @a57se @HanknaplesHey 57.....just having a cup and doing my mental gymnastics !!! Bernard Mclaughlin 5pts @djf1@Hanknaples@jma020@Brendan This was the most moronic thread I've read on this blog in quite some time. Thanks djf1 5pts @Hanknaples @jma020 @Brendan I think it's because he's not the only one annoyed at the bizarre, irrelevant thread derailments you seem to enjoy leading. djf1 5pts @Brendan @djf1 Oh, I thought you meant there was additional info in the book. We already knew about those. a57se 5pts @HanknaplesStop being so POSITIVE Hank! Hanknaples 5pts @jma020 @Hanknaples @BrendanWhy are you defending Brendan?????Are you his Girlfriend ??? Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesThe only thing I can add is Thank God You did NOT live during Roman Gladiator times !!!In the old days Ships were made out of Wood and Men out of Steel.....today men are made .......... jma020 5pts @Hanknaples @Brendan Hank you're stupidity is mind blowing. You think Brendan was saying the two things are equal? Please stop posting. Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesWhat part of the "WHOLE WORLD TAKES THEIR SPORTS VERY SERIOUSLY " did you and Mr Armstrong miss ??? Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples I agree that you should be allowed to express anger towards an athlete sports team, but it has to be within reason. Telling a guy he sucks? I think it's petty, since none of us could ever even hope to be as good as a professional athlete who sucks, but fair. Telling a guy you hope he dies in a flaming car crash? Overstepping standard lines of decency. Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesYou're funny and BTW may I have a copy of those rules...sometimes I need one !!Expressing your anger at an athlete is part and parcell !! Only in America will there be a full investigation if an athlete is threaten !!!That is why I say it "pales by comparison' !! Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Just going to take a guess, but I think he mentioned South America because Colombia, which you mentioned, is in South America. Hanknaples 5pts @Marcus Armstrong @Hanknaples @Brendan @djf1Why do you highlight South America.....the Whole World takes their Sports VERY Seriously !! Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Hank, that's irrelevant to what we're talking about. You're saying we shouldn't feel bad for Hunter, because people have it worse. That's illogical. You can feel bad for Hunter AND people who have it worse, that's allowed in the rules of life. Don't worry, I checked. Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesBecause threatening your wife =/= beating your wife !! Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Of course I have. Why do you ask? Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesEver hear of Gamblers Anonymous ?? Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Oh, okay. I'm serious. A woman being beaten by her husband "pales in comparison" to a woman being murdered by her husband, but can't both be tragic? Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesAh ???? Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Why does it have to be compared at all? Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @HanknaplesOf course, but in reality...it pales by comparison !!!! Brendan 5pts @Hanknaples Um, a Colombian player being murdered is awful. The story about the soccer ref being dismembered from last year? A tragedy. That doesn't mean Wayne Hunter receiving death threats and fearing for the safety of himself and his family shouldn't be viewed as something awful. Marcus Armstrong 5pts @Hanknaples @Brendan @djf1 Ah, because south american soccer culture is what we want to be emulating. Hanknaples 5pts @Brendan @djf1Threats are terrible???Most countries take their sports VERY seriously !!!! How about the Colombian soccer player that was murdered because he scored the AutoGoal in the '94 World Cup ???
