Interesting stat brought up by Mehta and Chris Burke (not sure who posted it first).....the last four Super Bowl winners played the Eagles in Philly's home opener each year.

San Diego had that honor this season..........

Vic Beasley is declaring for the draft....

I promised I'd stop rooting for edge players, so I will, but....man. He good.

pretty sure i recall reports that Marty and Vick didnt like each other when marty joined the Jets. Did time heal?

i get why some would want Manziel. he has an exciting style of play. that style could end up being calamitous in the NFL with the punishment he will take. i dont get bridgewater tho. i dont see any difference in measurables that would make him clearly better than Geno. in fact i think Geno may have a better arm. is it that supporters of manziel and bridewater think they wont struggle in their 1st year?

Geno will now have a full camp and training with the team, to be honest for a guy who only played in one preseason game he did pretty good. Some rookie QBs are slower than others. Geno can win a championship its just a matter of putting the right guys on the team good draft picks along with veterans who have won playoffs game is what can get this team to the SB.. 2010 was perfect other than the early collapse in the AFC game. but we had some veterans on that team so did the Pats when they won the 3 rings they have.If  Ed reed can help with the DB bring him back Dee Milner all of a sudden started playing good when Reed showed up. As long as Reed takes a reasonable contract I say bring him back because when you in tight games in the playoffs its the veteran that keep the troops together.

Deadspin started talking about that last year, before Baltimore extended the streak.

@a57se interesting but in the end just random coincidence.

@a57se My cousin is a Chargers fan. He was really excited about that fact early on this season.

Eh. Physically, yeah. Mentally, no. He's one of those whirling dervish, no technique, can't play the run, over pursuer types.

@Brendan

I would take him over Amaro or Ebron.....not over Lee.

@idothis2 I would launch my TV out a window if the Jets took Johnny Foosball.

@Tyrone GarciaI wonder if there's any way (Bent?) to quantify whether there were fewer blow assignments once Reed was acquired? Say what you want about his individual play, but Jim Leonhard seemed to bring a coherence to the secondary that has been missing since he left.

Brendan
Brendan

@Tyrone Garcia Good point with Reed/Milliner. Whenever they showed Milliner on the sideline late in the season, after a good play or after a boneheaded one, Reed was next to him, in his ear the entire time.

@djf1@a57se

Yup but it is ironic how these things line-up sometimes.

Brendan

@juunit I've watched him play. Rex would turn him into a nightmare on the edge.

@juunit

Ah, you don't like Beasley? Some folks are comparing him to Bruce Irvin......
what you describe is more Aaron Maybin.

Brendan

@Marcus Armstrong I just like top talent being added at this stage of the game. Where would you rank Beasley on a big board in terms of a range?

Bent

@joemustgo @Tyrone Garcia After some early teething troubles where there were MORE blown assignments after Reed arrived, I think it got better.  Quantifying something like this accurately isn't really possible though.

@joemustgo @Tyrone Garcia  losing Jim in 2010 before the playoffs makes me wonder how different that Pittsburgh AFC game would of turned out. But Reed is a loot better than Jim.plus remember Rex brought in several Ravens Bart Scott handled the front 7 and Leonard QB the DBs  And they all went through the camps together whereas Reed came in the second half of the season.I think a full camp together will make a big difference....

@Brendan @Tyrone Garcia Reed has yet to show Milliner the finer points of growing a gnarly beard so he has to be back next year to further his development.

It's not that I know he'll fail, but there's way too much potential that he will. He doesn't fit the needs of the D anyway. He's a DE not a LB.

I watched a few Clemson games and have watched some tape.  He is 3rd round guy to me based on production.  I would not draft him in first two rounds because he looks like a developmental player.  Non-factor against run and easily pushed by the pocket by Offensive tackles.  Nice inside move.  Good explosion as well.  But not enough real impact plays for me in the games I watched.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marcus Armstrong Yeah, his giddy-up is something else. I am trying not to be all about edge rushers again this year, but damn it's tough with guys like this coming out.

Marcus Armstrong
Marcus Armstrong

@Brendan @Marcus Armstrong Haha… In line with what you mentioned, I've tried not to watch edge rushers, so I'm a bit behind there. I know a lot of guys really like Beasley, though, so it doesn't surprise me.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marcus Armstrong What's funny is I've watched a lot of Clemson this year, and I would rate Beasley a bit higher, but I also haven't seen half the players you have overall. I remember watching Clemson/SC to see Clowney play and came away from that game thinking Beasley was a freaking monster.

@jake100 @Bent Wait til you read my 3,000 word BGA in half an hour.

Brendan

@Bent That was the play they designed for a starting QB where he did a baby hook shot to a tight end. And people thought that guy could play QB in the NFL. Oy.

@Tyrone Garcia Winning cures all. If Holmes is back (and I'm not giving that good odds right now), as the team plays better and he plays better that swagger would come back quickly. This team is young and hungry, and the DL has enough swagger for everyone haha.

Tyrone Garcia
Tyrone Garcia

What happen to that team swagger. everybody wants to get rid of Holmes but a pumped up Holmes is better than any receiver I've seen when catching those tight passes and staying in bounds. He doesn't have a bad attitude its that play makers get bored quickly when they are on a team that struggling you need to use them ...  don't let Brady get him that will automatically give the pats 12 winning games next year. Holmes if motivated can do allot for the Jets.

@Tyrone Garcia @marshrandy @joemustgo lol I've watched the Houston comeback on Youtube like 600 times

Dierdorf: What can you say about Mark Sanchez and what he just did

Tyrone Garcia
Tyrone Garcia

@marshrandy @Tyrone Garcia @joemustgo  I actually go to youtube and relive 2010 I think that was the bets year that I really felt the Jets were contenders for the SB in my decades of watching. The houston come back I really believe they dismantled the Offense in 2011 Sanchez Braylon, Holmes, and cothery where really playing good together.than they went after asomgha and let some guys go

@Brendan Haha now Im actually wondering when Reed gets in will his likeness be sporting the homeless man beard look....it should.

Brendan

@levi It should definitely get its own HOF bust.

@Brendan Reeds beard should be a first ballot hall of famer.

@levi There is no way that baby-faced Boomhauer can grow a beard at all, let alone something reminiscent of the obsidian pillow that hangs off of Reed's mandible.
