Andre Johnson for a 4th round pick and we won't have to question who will line up opposite Decker. A move like that is like the Mets picking up Keith Hernandez. Get him!!!!

I hate I missed this whole Tim Duncan thread this afternoon. Hahaha. That's some good reading

Wow - so the saints blog has their own version of Bent (not as good, naturally).

Impressive.

Wonder what country theirs lives in?

Great essay by Lebron on returning to Cleveland.  I thought it was pretty powerful and excellent PR.

That saints jets article is a good one. If you have that same pistol with ivory close to the line and cj lined up deep..mm mm mm  :)

Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Pete Maravich, Julius Erving, George Gervin, Moses Malone to name 10 guys right off the top of my head who are better than Tim Duncan...
there are probably 50 or 60 more...

@NYCPEinGermany CSC is a GREAT blog.  Highly commended.

Their version of the Daily Links is called "Fleur de Links".  That's brilliant.

@tsjc68 Oops...sorry.  I'll get it going.  Password tumbleweed.

@williamg1 ......so we're just setting fire to all of TJB today, apparently.

In 1996 the 50 greatest players in NBA history was selected to honor the leagues 50th anniversary...Tim Duncan would have a hard time cracking that top 50.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@a57se

Pete Maravich, Julius Erving, George Gervin and Moses Malone were better than Tim Duncan?

Ha, that's freaking hilarious.

tsjc68

@Lloyd Jay Reife @a57se

Backcourt, frontcourt, doesn't matter.

TIM DUNCAN IS ONE OF THE TEN BEST BASKETBALL PLAYERS EVER, AT ANY POSITION.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se  No he would not. You are quite possibly the only person on the planet who thinks Duncan isn't in the top-50 players, or even questionable about being a top-50 player.

Brendan
Brendan

@tsjc68 We're just a couple of young idiots who never saw them play so we can't have an informed opinion here.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @a57se

He said George Gervin.

GEORGE GERVIN.

Not even Spurs fans would put George Gervin above Tim Duncan.  Not even Spurs players who played with George Gervin above Tim Duncan.

NOT EVEN GEORGE GERVIN HIMSELF WOULD PUT GEORGE GERVIN ABOVE TIM DUNCAN.

Pablo Bruno

@Brendan @a57se Is the question concerning his position or overall? Because at his position yea, but overall I agree there way guys way better then him.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @a57se

"There's 50 or 60 players better than Tim Duncan" is legitimately the dumbest thing I've ever heard a57se say.  That's even dumber than "There's no more racism in Texas anymore".

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

I said he is not top 10...he would have trouble breaking into the top 50...

Who are the top ten players in the NBA since 1996?

Bent
Bent moderator

@a57se @tsjc68 @Lloyd Jay Reife You did admit yesterday that you haven't followed the league closely in recent years.  In that regard, it's probably understandable that you don't rate Duncan as high as some others.

He'd be in my top 10, just.  Sorry Kobe.

@Brendan @tsjc68

Serious Question.

With all the hype of Pop today, was Tim more of a product of Pop or was Pop more of a product of Tim?

a57se
a57se

@Pablo Bruno @Brendan @a57se

Overall...

I would put 5 centers ahead of him at the least.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se "Who are the top ten players in the NBA since 1996? "

What relevance does this have?

In any case, Duncan is #1.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @tsjc68

George Gervin, career win shares: 116.3

Tim Duncan, career win shares: 191.6

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se So, nothing. He's done nothing to you.

And Bent hasn't said anything like what you just posted, he just doesn't like the guy.

Pablo Bruno
Pablo Bruno

@tsjc68 @Pablo Bruno @Brendan @a57se No way, Lets see here, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Dr. J, Chamberlain, Russell, Karl Malone, Charles Barkely, Hakim Olajuwon, Clyde the Glide, Scottie Pippen, Isaiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkens, nope I don't think we would be in the top ten.

williamg1
williamg1

@tsjc68 @Pablo Bruno @Brendan @a57se I don't know. I already know that Ewing, Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley and John Starks are in the top 10. Herb Williams is borderline top 10. I'd even consider Chris Dudley for the offensive firepower he brought the Knicks.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se List them, please. Also please note he has played PF more than C.

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

Simple question...I want to see who would have displaced the guys in the top 50...

Brendan
Brendan

@tsjc68 In pretty much any measure you choose outside of "scoring points" Duncan outperforms Gervin and it's not even close.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @a57se

HE'S A HO, BENT.  HE CHEATED ON ME WITH SOME OTHER GUY AND NOW WANTS TO COME CRAWLING BACK.

@a57se @Brendan

Q: What players from after the publication of the NBA Top 50 Players Ever list in 1999 would displace the guys from the list and merit inclusion in the Top 50?

A: Well, the first such guy to talk about is Tim Duncan.  After that, it gets interesting.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @Pablo Bruno

Dominique Wilkins.

A living, breathing, sentient human being just said, completely straightfaced, that Dominique Wilkins was better than Tim Duncan.

I am baffled.  What is wrong with our American education system?

a57se
a57se

@Bent @a57se @tsjc68 @Lloyd Jay Reife

I think Duncan equates to Derek jeter for me...

Classy guy that everyone respects, first ballot HOF'er but not the top of the list when it comes to all time players.

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

Is that the best you can do?

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se I'd laugh if I didn't seriously think you'd consider Reggie as a better player than TD.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se No?

You've proven over the past few days that your knowledge on current NBA players is severely lacking, so I'm not surprised you're this oblivious to how great TD is.

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

I didn't even include George mikan who is considered one of the All-Time greats because I didn't see him play...

Tim Duncan has never dominated a game like any of the guys I listed.

teams would throw guys on the floor to foul Shaq just to keep his scoring down because he wasn't a good free thrower..noone game plans around tim Duncan.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se George Mikan is not a top-10 player, or a top-5 center of all time.

"Tim Duncan has never dominated a game like any of the guys I listed."

Proving you never watched Tim Duncan play a basketball game.

"teams would throw guys on the floor to foul Shaq just to keep his scoring down because he wasn't a good free thrower.."

Teams threw guys on the court to foul Shaq because he sucked at FT's, that's the only reason. If he could hit FT's, they wouldn't have done that.

""noone game plans around tim Duncan. ""

This is so embarrassingly false it defies description. Stop talking.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@a57se @Brendan

Tim Duncan has never dominated a game like any of the guys I listed.

That is the most insanely idiotic thing anyone has said here in months.

Hank makes more sense than you are making right now.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @a57se

He said George Mikan, as if I'm supposed to be impressed by George Mikan bodying up the 6'7" centers of the 1950s.

Brendan
Brendan

@tsjc68 Did you know no one game-planned around a first-ballot HOFer? Like, ever?
