Cautiously optimistic would describe my outlook right now... Rex looks comfortable in this interview, although I did notice some negative head shaking as he spoke kindly on Amaro...

Glad McDougle is lookin' sharp....

Cimini actually dropped a few pieces of useful info for a change.  All emphasis is mine.

---------------------------------

"Third-round pick Dexter McDougle, who missed the final nine games of his senior year due to major shoulder surgery, made his practice debut for the New York Jets. After three weeks of wearing a red (non-contact) jersey, the rookie cornerback wore green with the rest of his defensive teammates and impressed Rex Ryan so much that the coach called him out in front of the team afterward...

Players that didn't participate in the voluntary practice included wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (personal), running back Mike Goodson (undisclosed), running back Chris Johnson (knee), running back Daryl Richardson (toe), wide receiver Jacoby Ford (undisclosed), Colon (knee), rookie wide receiver Shaq Evans (school obligation) and linebacker Antwan Barnes(knee). Ryan said he expects Goodson to show up for next week's mandatory minicamp. As expected, Johnson -- six months removed from knee surgery -- isn't expected to do much, if anything, in the minicamp. Ford will be full speed by next week...

Pryor continued to work with the starters. It was Pryor and Antonio Allen at safety, with Dawan Landry practicing with the second team. Landry already knows the defense; the plan is to let Pryor and Allen get as many reps as possible...

Rookie tight end Jace Amaro, coming off a three-drop day last week, had another drop but looked much better catching the ball."

@kniff I got exact opposite on amaro, he brought him up first tho pry is the first rounder. I just think he meant he saw how special Jace was and also how he made some mistakes to. But I think its a joke because we all know how its been up and down for him with his talent level being so high but learning the new Offense has been hard thats about it. Jace is a big time player, athlete, and mismatch and when he learns the system hes gonna be a Baller. Im excited about Mcdougle and think at the end of the day he starts with Milliner and Patterson and Wilson play the Nickel. Wilsons stint will be over soon here and well see whos better.

@tsjc68 Gotta love that small McDougle bit of news. Nice to hear he isn't totally lost. I'm holding out hope that he could be a surprise major contributor this year.

@tsjc68 I assumed that's what they were doing with the safeties. Seems like the smart play, Landry knows this defense in his sleep.

Great news on Ford.  I was hoping it wasn't serious.

Concerned about Amaro.  If he can't make the catches in practice, what's he going to do on the field?  It doesn't get any slower than OTA, so if his mind is overwhelmed at this point, he will struggle mightily on Sundays.  Of course, this statement is complete ridiculous, as tsjc points out below, but I wonder about the guy...
