Jets re-sign Willie Colon

The Jets have re-signed Willie Colon. (Frankel, March 19) The deal is for one year and $2 million. (Mehta, March 19)

Colon, 30, signed with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent on March 16, 2013, and went on to start all 16 games at right guard.

The Hofstra University product has started every game he’s played in (78) during his eight-year NFL career.

MJD returning to Pittsburgh tomorrow... sounds like he's going to land with the Steelers.

about time Colon got signed, with Golden Tate signing for 5 mil a year I'm disappointed Idzik didn't try to get him, Decker is a good starting point but with only Kerley as a reliable receiver Jets need more, and if Tate would have been signed this could have freed more options for how the team will draft, this might be Jets most important draft ever, Idzik better have a master plan that will wok out.

Probably means nothing, but New York Jets is listed under Michael Vick's career history lol

Idzik is the man that brought us the Ivory, Colon, and Barnes deals to name a few....

The best part about Revis going to NE is: a year from now when he leaves that team on bad terms, he will spill the beans on all the shady stuff Belichick does.

@jdb4  I like that move for the Steelers.

@marcus81  Tate signed for $6.2m a year.  5 years, 31m.

@Brendan  Manish actually called the Colon signing a solid move and said he's a good locker room presence.  Translation: Occasional source.

Now THIS is a strategy I can get behind 100%!

@johnnyl65  yesterday i heard adam schein on mad dog radio do the same. while he spoke well of the rest of the ny daily news sports team, he said - unfortunately w/o naming manish by name - that the jets beat for the ny daily news was "fiction".

i never have agreed w/ schein before yesterday, but i loved the description.

@johnnyl65  i was loving it until he measured DRC on tackles and interceptions that a terrible way to judge a cornerback

@funkymonk

Someone really needs to photoshop rabbit ears onto the guy from the Gap Band now.

@funkymonk  What an article. That's going up on the front page.

@funkymonk

Where was that last year when I was one of the few people advocating bringing Pace back then?

@funkymonk  filed under: "authentic jets insight never found published in places like the ny daily news or espn ny". nice find.

@funkymonk  I've been waiting for this to come out all day! Got some train ride reading now.

@Bent @jdb4

I'm ok with it.  MJD would have been a nice add to the Jets but I'm watching Bishop Sankey right now and can say I'd be pleased if he was added to the Jets.

Tough runner, finishes, catches the ball well, moves well in space.  Good acceleration,  excellent lateral quickness, willing pass blocker (needs some refinement) good vision.

Decker is better than golden Tate.

@Bent Alternate translation: Everyone, including my peers, is calling me on my relentless string of bullsht, I better act like a real reporter for a bit.

@Paul Samuels @williamg1  Man, Revis just seems toxic. I would love to see their season collapse. If so, his team will start their contract antics, and he'll inject poison into Foxboro.

@Bent That was a read. Hopefully people will listen to an ex-Jet who lived in Ryan's defense for the better part of a decade.

@Bent @Monty Granito@marcus81

He fits in perfectly with the miscreants in Detroit.

That's the one thing us fans have no access to in the free agency period... what is a player's personality and attitude like.  One reason a team may not sign a guy is that they feel he won't fit in.

@Bent @marcus81I was a big fan of tate until he started bad mouthing the seahawks offer.. calling it laughable.,,You got your money dude act like a pro,,

@Brendan  Well, how else do you think he got the contract numbers first?

@williamg1 @Paul Samuels the only thing that could work against the Pats is Brady's age, that team doesn't do dumb stuff to screw themselves over, the sad thing is that only NE and Denver are the only really good teams right in the AFC right now, with the Ravens not far off, and the rest are blah, Jets could be a dark horse if they add more good receivers and sure up the Oline.

@joemustgo I don't think he'll be able to trash Uncle Rex and his old team. Brutally honest? Sure, because we know he'd say the same thing to the team's face, but I can't see him going the route of other ex-Jets and just bashing the living daylights out of the team.

@Brendan @Monty  I don't want Bart to be a homer, but I also hope he doesn't try to make his name by saying something negative/controversial about the Jets very chance he gets, like Jenkins seems to do.

williamg1
williamg1

@Monty @williamg1 @Brendan @funkymonk  I would like to see Bart on the sideline as a positional coach, talking crap to any opposing teams player that comes close to the sideline.

I really, really miss Bart Scott.

@Monty He was hired by CBS, so you'll see him on their pregame show every week.
