After returning to the field today, the Jets have released Dalton Freeman as part of the swap to get QB Graham Harrell on the roster before tomorrow night’s game.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comWe understand that the Jets needed to make room for Harrell who will be playing tomorrow night since he and Simms are the team’s two practical options for tomorrow night’s preseason finale. Before getting injured on August 2, Freeman was having a nice spring and start to training camp. He might be a player that they might try and bring back as a squadder.
Bent has been upfront about the concerns of not having a competent backup center on the roster and cuttting Freeman now, could have repercussions for the Jets — the Jets rolled the dice at the backup center spot in 2011, and it was a problem for them well into the season until Mangold could get healthy again.
