#EA The Jets have promoted TE Hayden Smith to the active roster and released WR Jason Hill.

With Jeff Cumberland lost for at least this weekend with a dislocated right hand, the Jets have promoted former Rugby lock Hayden Smith from the practice squad. Konrad Reuland will serve as Keller’s primary back-up with Smith as the third tight end. Hills’ departure isn’t too surprising. The receiving corp, despite the loss of Santonio Holmes, has gotten and stayed healthy so far (/knock on wood) with Kerley emerging as one of Sanchez’s top targets. Furthermore, Hill wasn’t much of a factor on offense being targeted three times through three games, catching two passes for a total of 15 yards though he did have a touchdown in the blowout over Indianapolis (and an interesting hopscotch celebration). The Jets currently have one spot available on the practice squad.
