Jets worked out free agents earlier this week

No moves has been made yet, but Rich Cimini notes that the Jets were kicking the tires over the last couple of days…

Bent, TheJetsBlog.com

Since the Jets basically now have a full complement of receivers, this is probably just the Jets doing their due diligence, as it will soon be futures season. Anyone not under contract with an NFL club at the end of the regular season can be signed on a futures deal at that point.

Enderle, a 6-4 25-year old from Idaho, has never thrown an NFL pass in a regular season game but was on the Bears’ active roster briefly in his rookie year (2011). He was with the Chargers in preseason but did not play. Enderle’s only preseason action saw him go 13-for-23 for 177 yards and an interception in two 2011 appearances with the Bears.

Coale, a 6-0, 187 pound receiver, was a four year starter at Virginia Tech and got selected in the 5th round of last year’s draft. He ended up on the Cowboys practice squad, but tore his ACL last year and although he was back with the Cowboys in preseason, he failed to make their roster. He also spent a week on the Colts practice squad in September. Coale was a fan favorite and caught three passes for 22 yards in six preseason games with the Cowboys, including this spectacular grab.

Coale went to Virginia Tech. Big difference

Kerley is an excellent slot receiver, and should be locked down. (is he under contract for next year?) I agree with Bob in the respect that a backup couldn't hurt anything at all, and am glad that we're already testing the waters and doing our "due diligence" ... Coale indeed looked good from the clip!

Santonio will most likely be gone next year, so we need to obtain a deep threat receiver that will fight for the ball (someone with a lot of "dawg" in him), and I hope we can obtain this player through FA.  Hill hasn't shown me much, and I for one, wouldn't mind seeing some new blood out there... lets see what happens. A new dual threat would be awesome!!

Let me end by reiterating my dream of obtaining a monster TE in the draft, something like NE had in Gronk, but even more of a monster...

Coale's a good player. Wouldn't question signing him at all.

Hey Bent, any rumblings on how Saalim Hakim is doing?

His brother was fun to watch with St. Louis and with his speed, it would be nice if he can catch!

I was thinking cant hurt to have another slot receiver waiting in the wings if anything should happen to Kerley...

@kniff Yes, Kerley is still under contract next year.

@ganggrncap This does not represent Idzik's measured approach. Build thru the draft; sign some inexpensive FAs with potential , sign a veteran short term, have some patience. And, this includes players like Cutler. That was Tanny's approach...look at the next "shiny object". We are now doing things the right way.

@bob I reckon Idzik must have read your comment when you said that!

Coale looks like he can play . If he can find himself an opening some where.... kinda struck me like some one New England type player
