Kurt Warner on Geno and Vick

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner sits down with SNY to discuss Geno Smith and Michael Vick.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Interesting perspective by Warner when it came to who to start.

“If a team is not very good, I’d go with the veteran quarterback,” Warner told SNY’s Brian Custer. “Because I think it’s always easier to make the move to the young guy if the veteran hasn’t played well.”

For now Geno is being touted as ahead of Vick in the quarterback competition and the Jets are on the way to becoming a good team.  For right now it seems unclear who will start and just how the GM and coach are assessing this team, but it will all become much more clear following May’s NFL Draft.

The top 3 WRs in this draft are Watkins, Evans and Lee. Watkins will be the first WR taken. Considering the Jets got Decker not sure if Evans would be a good fit and he most likely is long gone. Lee is a perfect fit for the Jets but he is also most likely gone by 18. Depending on how the draft unfolds it is a possibility to move up a few spots and grab Lee who could be the best WR in this draft.

Most likely the Jets sit pat at 18. I don't see the Jets picking Benjamin, Robinson or Matthews because they already have Decker. Most likely the Jets either pick Beckham or Cooks at 18 if they go WR.

I'm more familiar with Cooks and prefer him over Beckham. But either one would be a great fit. The question is could they move back a few spots and still land either Cooks or Beckham. If the Jets can do that I would be a happy camper.

I know some here have there doubts about Lee but I think he would be the best WR for the Jets. Lee was unstopable when healthy. That is the question regarding Lee. Cooks on the other hand has never missed a game. But don't be mistaken a healthy Lee is better than Cooks.

Rather OBJ .. He can return punts and we just hired his special teams coach

Cooks on NFLN now. really like this kid.  Cooks vs ODB  Watched film on both of them & like them both A LOT. But I'm leaning to Cooks.

I jumped on Cooks when he was scouted here, love him at 18.

Trade up to get Fuller or another CB , ill be happy, happier if we could land a TE too .

Saw that too.. I want this guy on my team. Great attitude great skill set and great route runner. Not to mention he will be among the fastest players in the league.

Cooks is the most explosive WR in the draft including Watkins...

I love Cooks....I would be over the moon if the Jets draft Cooks or ODB...

They both are exciting players

If Idzik doesn't get weapons for Geno in this draft he should be fired!

Helping Geno Smith is the most important thing the Jets can do in this draft if they want to improve as a team

I would like to see the Jets draft a WR in rounds 1 and 4. They should grab the best TE available in round 2 and take a CB in round 3.

This draft really should be all about making life easier for Geno Smith.

Cooks reminds me of a combination of Steve Smith & Desean Jackson. He has elite speed and he's tough for his size.

Cooks doesn't just have straight line speed like Stephen Hill. Brandin Cooks is extremely quick in and out of his breaks. He can kill defenses catching a short slant route or on a screen pass. He can also beat a defense deep. I think he has the quickest 1st step (acceleration) of any WR in the draft

@bradysucks  Got to agree. He will put CBs on their heels and open up the middle for Decker and the running game

Idzik obviously doesn't believe in BPA. He drafted Brian Winters ahead of Keenan Allen ......rolls eyes.

There is nothing wrong with drafting NEED provided a team genuinely feels the player will make the team better. If you have Drew Brees and the BPA in the draft is a QB and you are desperate for a DE and there is a great DE there for the taking then the smart move is to draft the DE.....It is common sense!

It would be nice to see some fans learn to think outside the box and actually learn to break down situations as opposed to thinking BPA no matter what.

As long as those players are the BPA
