there's nothing wrong with being confident and Geno did not say where gonna win it like Rex used to

I can see the PFT headline now:   "Geno Confident He Can Bring Jets To Super Bowl"

To be fare, every team makes a SB run.

I don't know what's worse, media asking trap questions or fans getting riled up when a player answers them.

I'm loving the confidence. Let's just hope he takes a big step in his progression.

@gbrownn

Wow...what a homer piece.

It is embarrassing.

@gbrownn Some interesting info in this, for sure. Drive stats showing Geno wasn't close to the worst QB in the league as far as TO's go is encouraging. Just keep getting better in that regard and the rest should start to sort itself out.

@BRO RALPH You're giving them too much credit.

"Geno Smith guarantees Jets SB in 2014" seems more their speed.

@Zartan

What is the fare for a SB run these days?

@a57se  It's hard to be a homer piece when actual stats are being used. Numbers don't lie, with the most compelling stat of all: Geno went 8-8 with as close to no offensive talent as a professional team can get. This piece should offer more along the lines of encouragement than embarrassment IMHO.

@a57se Detail your response or be quiet.

The piece is "Geno wasn't as bad as people think," it's not "GENO IS AWESOME."

@Brendan @a57se

I don't have to detail it...anyone with a brain that is functioning can read it and see for themselves.

@a57se Yeah, the article really wasn't as biased as your are making it out to be. Besides Geno's "league leading" 11 third-and-11-plus situations (I didn't know that) He just put up compare and contrast stats to the rest of the leagues qbs. Never called him the golden boy or the answer, he just pointed out that his rookie was not all bad. Even though thats how most people talk about Geno when they discuss his rookie year.

@a57se No, that's not an answer. I have a brain and it functions and I want you to tell me what is unreasonable about this article that is, again, not saying Geno is great, or above average, or the future of the team, but merely saying Geno's "not terrible." Explain to me what is homer about saying Geno is "not terrible."

@gbrownn

Think about the 'stats' he put up devoid of any context...

@a57se @jsadolph

I felt that Pennington was a legitimately good QB, but injuries killed his career.  And Favre was good.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se As opposed to all those stats you use to say he sucks that are brimming with context?

There is nothing wrong with doing what that article did. It's saying "yes, Geno wasn't good, but he wasn't the WORST, either, and here's a bunch of metrics you wouldn't probably know without me putting them in this article to help prove that." That's not unreasonable, stop being a hater.

@jsadolph

Pennington had a noodle arm...he wasn't going to lead us to the promised land. The Jets offense actually score more points each of Sanchez' threee years then all but one of Penny's.

Favre was old when he came here and played one season...I really don't count him.
