The top 3 WRs (I'm not such a Mike Evans fan but whatever I'll throw him in that class), and Jace Amaro may be off the board by the time we pick. We should either move up for Sammy Watkins or move back. If we stay put how would you feel about taking two Tight Ends with Jace Amaro or Ebron at 18 and Austin Seferian Jenkins in the 2nd? I think it would be a solid way to build our offense. ww85 5pts What are you guys thinking QBs? I think we need a competent vet to compete with Geno: Henne, Scahub, Cutler, Cousins will be possibilities. Draft one as well in the 3rd round? I've always kind of liked Henne--not saying he;'s great, just that he can be an average QB in the NFL with the right pieces. Strong arm & he is tough, not expensive & can be real competition for Geno. jaym 5pts @DraftCountdownTexas Tech TE Jace Amaro the latest addition to an ever-growing list of underclassmen declaring for 2014 NFL Draft. davem 5pts Am I understanding these other stories correctly? Seems to be implying that Rex could've received a longer extension if he'd agreed to let Idzik make changes to Rex's staff? Is that the correct take on this? If so, is this factually based or simply rumored? bldsgrnNwht 5pts AFC Defensive Player of the Week:Dee MillinerCongrats!! jaym 5pts Cimini having a hissy fitRichCiminiThis news conference is a long Jets info-mercial. #Jets jaym 5pts YAWNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!I want the Fat Rex press conference juunit 5pts @jma020 Not a fan of taking two TEs with our first two picks. And if we take a TE not named Austin Seferian-Jenkins while he is still available, I will smack a small child. __fense 5pts @ww85 Honestly, I don't like the Veteran QB route. They don't have teams because they aren't the answer. Maybe Henne or Cousins (although I doubt he'll be available), but only because Henne will be cheap enough to be worth the chance that he doesn't end up being useless and Cousins is young enough that he could still end up being a really good QB if given the chance. But again, that's also why the Redskins aren't going to let him go, especially with RG3's health. juunit 5pts @jaym Walterfootball had that about 6 weeks ago.In other draft news, today's first Bowl game is worth a watch. Arizona - BC. Ka'Deem Carey for Arizona. Alex Amidon, Steele Divitto and Kevin Pierre-Louis for BC. Carey might be the first RB drafted while the BC players are all mostly unknown mid to late round pickups who I think qualify as steals. Oh, and Andre Williams might not catch the ball, but he's a mother f***ing animal on the ground. The VT - UCLA game after is worth a watch too. __fense 5pts @davem Unless I've missed it, there's no facts that support it at all, but it could be that Rapport has a source in the organization that told him this but didn't want to give him a direct quote, anonymous or not. It's also just as possible that it's all BS and Rapport is making stuff up to further his career. __fense 5pts @bldsgrnNwht And Geno's up for offensive Rookie of the week. ww85 5pts @jaym This qualifies as a hissy fit? __fense 5pts @jaym He's upset that the Head Coach and General Manager of the Jets are saying good things about the Jets. Isn't Cimini supposed to be unbiased? djf1 5pts @jaym wtf else is it supposed to be? joemustgo 5pts @jaym Door flies open... ww85 5pts Have you seen Jenkins play much? I guess the one rap against him is his speed at the NFL level. There's a good chance Ebron will be available at 18. Bernard Mclaughlin 5pts @__fense Getting a Shaub as a backup QB for Smith would be terrific, . No one gets that bad overnight from where he was , he could be a huge help if Geno gets hurt or falters. ww85 5pts Cousins will be available but will be expensive in both picks & $. ww85 5pts Scahub will be cheap. He's considered "done", but I think he's a competent backup who can at least push Geno. I don't think Henne is nearly as bad as his reputation so I think he could challenge Geno as well. jaym 5pts @juunit You should do this more I never know the players to watch in these games. bldsgrnNwht 5pts @__fensenice!!! juunit 5pts @ww85@juunit There's also Grimble, Fiedorowicz and Lynch at TE and I really like both Grimble and Fiedorowicz. So it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't get one of the "top 3." ww85 5pts @juunit It will be interesting. I'm sure the Jet scouts are all over all 3 of these guys along with Amaro. We will probably pick a TE first, unless a stud WR falls to us. Bernard Mclaughlin 5pts @juunit@ww85 Agreed we need a great blocker/receiver TE , we have a receiver TE now in CumbySJ would give good options on play action and help run too,. juunit 5pts @ww85 He's much more than a blocking TE. If there is a Graham/Gronk clone in this draft, it's this guy. While Ebron is more like Keller, better hands than Keller though. Not saying he is that good, but he's very obviously the #1 TE as far as I'm concerned. ww85 5pts But wouldn't you rather have a talented catching TE than a blocking TE, considering how thin we are at WR? juunit 5pts @ww85 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N-8Ip7cPZgEbron is a talented receiver, but he basically is a large receiver. He's 6'4 and not much of a blocker. Meanwhile, as that video shows, Seferian-Jenkins is 6'7 and a load when blocking. ww85 5pts I didn't see Washington or NC play this year so I only go by what I've read. Ebron seems like the real deal as a pass catching TE & he can line up as WR. If he's avail;able, he seems perfect for us(at least based on what I've read). juunit 5pts @ww85 He's larger than Gronk by a couple pounds, so the fact that he doesn't run a 4.4 40 doesn't really worry me. He is actually used to catch screens at Washington, so I think the "slow" stuff is way overblown. I think the big knock on him is the DUI he got this year. __fense 5pts @Bernard Mclaughlin @__fense I like Simms as the long term backup, and I'd be worried that we'd lose him for Shaub. I wouldn't be ranting and raving against it (as long as the price isn't dumb), but I don't think I would persue it if I was the GM.I've still got this fantasy of us resting our starters at the end of the year after we clinched a playoff spot, and Simms scoring 6 TDs against the Lions so we can trade him away for a big value. __fense 5pts @ww85 Cousins may turn out to be a good move for a team that trades for him, but I don't think it's worth the risk when we've already got a promising young QB. If we get him it's just as likely that he turns into a Matt Flynn ww85 5pts I think we've had this argument extensively A57. It's all over NFLN that the Redskins will be moving Cousins. I agree he stunk week 17, but he will be traded while he has value. The Skins need draft picks more than backup QBs. ww85 5pts I don't "know" it at all about Scahub. Maybe he will command that cash, but his reputation has taken a massive hit this year so I assume his value has dropped a lot. I actually think Henne & Schaub are comparable in my book--well they are much better than Garrard. juunit 5pts @ww85 I'd be less interested in someone who can challenge Smith and more interested in someone who can just play competently and win games if Smith deserves to be benched. Because let's be honest, Smith is the starter in 2014 barring us drafting someone in the 1st round. juunit 5pts @jaym@juunit I can do my best, although I definitely don't know them all.For UCLA there's Hundley at QB, Sua'Filo at OG, Barr at OLB, Marsh at DE/DT. Myles Jack at LB is awesome, but he's a freshman. None of their receivers are worth much, and Jack is also their best RB. For VT there's Fuller at CB. There's actually two Fullers, and the better one, Kendall, is too young for the draft, but Kyle is talented (actually he's injured and won't be playing.) Logan Thomas at QB is worthless, but he's got all the potential of Cam Newton, at least technically. VT's RB is also apparently injured. But they've got a good defense, so it's worth watching their DEs and secondary players. For Rice - Miss St. the only guy I know about who is worth watching is Gabe Jackson the OG.A&M - Duke obviously has Manziel and Evans. Their RB is worth a look too. Not sure of the players names, but Duke has a good secondary, so there are probably some guys worth looking at there. juunit 5pts @a57se@juunit Unfair to say that he can't catch or pass block because BC doesn't ask their RBs to do it. But, yeah. Though honestly, Williams > Ivory.
