2013 Roster Countdown: #76 Dennis Landolt

As we’ve done in years past, we’re doing our Roster Countdown series of posts as we get ready for the regular season.  See the full list of players we’ve covered so far here.

Position: Offensive Line
Height / Weight: 6’4” 306 lbs
Age: 26 / Experience: 1
College: Penn State

Background: Landolt attended Holy Cross High School in Delran Township, New Jersey and was named first-team all-state by the Newark Star-Ledger, not allowing a sack in three seasons. Landolt was an All-East selection and Rivals rated him the nation’s No. 19 offensive tackle in 2004.  Landolt was also a standout wrestler, finishing third in the New Jersey state championships as a senior in his weight class.  After a redshirt season, he played six games in 2006 while backing up All-American Levi Brown. Landolt earned the starting right tackle job in 2007 and started all 13 games and he never left the starting lineup from that point, earning All-Big Ten AP third team All-American honors.  Landolt went undrafted in 2010 and as an undrafted free agent, Landolt signed with the Giants shortly after the 2010 NFL Draft and then before bounced to the Niners and then Jets before being signed away by the Saints, and then returning to the Jets.

2013 Projection:  Landolt is a gifted player and given some time to mature could be a backup and spot-starter in this league.  Due to his size and footspeed, he’s likely best suited as an interior player which will make it more difficult for him to secure a roster spot.  While Landolt is smart, disciplined and played at an extremely high level in college, he’s had a tough time sticking with teams, but his familiarity with the Jets might play in his favor.
