Quote: Can the Jets slow Josh Gordon?

“I was with Cleveland in training camp, so I know [Josh Gordon] very well.  He presents so many different problems it makes it difficult. The only downside on him is he’s so raw and young. He’s still got learning and experience to gain from playing in the NFL. So Cro can use his veteran savvy and experience to his advantage and I think that’ll work.”

– Jets WR David Nelson on the NFL’s leader in reception yardage WR Josh Gordon

Jets should give players on the roster who don't play that much, a chance to get some playing time with these last 2 games to see who we're gonna keep, got a lot of picks next year.

I will call it a decent season if Coples gets a sack tomorrow and is in the QBS face all game, Geno has 200 yards passing, 1TD, 60% completions, and only 1 turnover and make better decisions. I also want to see Milliner keep progressing and Allen play a substantial amount of snaps and show that he will be solid at safety. Oh, I also want to see a win. There is much to build on in this game if you look for it.

Some of you will disagree, but I seen some real talent exhibited by Geno. I think with more experience and a improved supporting cast, this kid will surprise a lot of nay sayers. He came from a non pro style offense, a Jets offense in a rebuild mode, and a very weak supporting cast. Many of his problems are related to that. It is difficult , especially for a rookie to execute when protection is unstable and with no playmakers, it all ties together. How can you go through progressions when the line caves immediately, and wrs cant get open. I am not saying that he hasn't made poor decisions but being a rookie with all these obstacles what can you expect? I say with another full training camp and competition, putting some talent around him, we will see a huge step up from this kid. He has the physicals Sanchez wishes he had. It is just a matter of cultivating and supporting the kid with some meat around him and experience. Go Geno!

@Bent

Sounds like a good challenge for Dee Milliner! Didn't Rex say he was gonna be great by the end of the season? Well, guess what? It is the end of the season!

I expect to see a great match-up of Milliner vs. Gordon!

@jake100 I would like to see what Geno does with better talent around him and another training camp too, he seems like he is poised enough in spite of making mistakes, given that the receivers keep dropping the ball and the O line let's jail break sacks get through. it would be easy for a QB to crumble under those circumstances.

Ur freaking bananas bro. Take ur meds dude.  Personally Id ratha see Dana Patrick suit up in her muscle suit and attempt a pass rather than Geno again

Geno played better the first half of the season,and then in true Jet QB tradition went backwards and regressed.

I've heard the excuses over and over. I remember hearing those same excuses for Sanchez.

What Geno is is the lowest rated, highest turnover QB in the NFL. With luck perhaps we can look forward to 17 turnovers and a QB rated in the bottom third next year.

Not all rookie QBs are a lifetime achievement award. Not all rookie QBs are turnover machines. This is two in a row for us, and I'm sick and tired if it.

It's time to dump Rex for a head coach that isn't a defensive coordinator, and draft a QB who completes passes to his own team as well as he does to the opposing one.

@Neil Herschkowitz I'm just curious to know why it's Rex's fault that he has been stuck with inexperienced crappy QBs since he became the coach.

Some prefer a sunshine and lollipops approach to all things on this Blog.... and get pissed at people who try and be objective. You are new so you haven't seen it yet but keep posting, you'll get labelled a negative Nellie!

Wow...I thought we all were Jets fans. What's with all the name calling? You all sound like the Jets locker room two years ago.

I see precious little excellence on our team. The D line is absolutely elite . Ivory is a beast , and Kurley is a talented receiver.

Other then that I'm sorry to say I see a few guys with potential, and much mediocrity.

Guys like Mangold and D'Brick are getting old,and their play is falling off. Our new GM had better draft well,and be smart in the free agent market.

There are so many bad team's around that we can still with a strong draft and lots of cap room do ok. The problem is NE always dominates,and the Dolphins are now an ok team for sure.

It's a long hard road in front of us.

@Brendan@Hanknaples

We can probably find tons of posts from you and others ripping all the  'professional analysts' you just listed but you shamelessly try and use them to justify your silly position?

Amazing!

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples Hank, please show me what professional analyst had the Jets at 10 wins. I'm not talking about fan predictions.

TOTJ is a good blog, but it's not made up of "professional analysts."

NYDN, NY Post, ESPN (who had them as the worst team in the league), Yahoo, CBS Sports...they all had the Jets being worse than they currently are.

And please stop using terms like "man up" to try and bully me into paying for a bet that you never made.

And seeing how you've never paid up on bets you did actually make with me, I'm going to laugh harder each time you try to paint me as a re-negger. I have a proven history of paying up for bets I've lost, with many witnesses here on the blog. You don't, mainly because you've never paid up on a bet you've lost here, so pipe down with the holier than thou act, you hypocrite.

Somewhere between the polar opposites of Brendan and Hank is the truth.As much as I would like to see Rex go, there are things I will miss about him.

I would have enjoyed seeing him with a good QB. What a difference maker that is, and what a multitude of sins it covers up.

"The team was predicted to win 4 games...."

See Brendan, statements like that one are the reason that you are such an apologist and contrarian that you are on the verge of being dishonest !!!

The fact is the average prediction had 6 wins some 8 wins, some 10 wins and some yet going to the playoffs !!

I've look at Yahoo, Espn and Bleacher Reports with all having, 5,8 and 8wins !!

Below is a site with about 30 "Expert" opinions NONE, NO ONE having a 4 FOUR win prediction!!!

You are wishing for the perfect HC and you are never gonna find him. Every coaches clock management sucks. And Rex's game plan to play good D and run the ball works. It's what the Panthers, 9ers, chiefs and Seahawks do. It has always and will always work. If the damn QBs we have cut down on the damn turnovers it would work for us.

P.S. the Jets are ranked 9th in 3rd down efficiency.

@Neil Herschkowitz I see very little evidence that the team lacks structure or discipline.  I see a lot of evidence that the team lacks talent and/or experience in a few areas. I also see evidence that some decisions seem to be coming from above Rex (Winters, Geno).

I disagree that the pre-snap penalties are his fault...I think that's more that the game moves way too fast for the QB.  He's supposed to be the leader of the offense, dictate the tempo, make pre-snap adjustments...and he's not very good in any of these areas.  What do you want the coach to do about that? Push-ups? Yell and scream? What?

Neil Herschkowitz
Neil Herschkowitz

No,it's Rexs fault his team lacks structure and discipline, and once again fell apart after the bye. It's his fault there is no system of consistency in place. It's his fault game and clock management suck. It's his fault pre snap penalties are off the charts. It's his fault the D can't get off the field on third down,and it's his fault washed up guys like Reed take playing time away from younger players with promise.

Oh,and it's also his fault that Sanchez got injured in pre season and Geno couldn't sit and learn like the rookie needed to.

Yeah, brendan likes to start with me any chance he gets. I get tired of it but I won't just let it pass without calling him on it.

The ironic thing here is that he is defending Joeyboy (apparently), the guy Brendan tried so hard to get banned a year and a half ago!

and this is where I take issue with you, I was joking with Mike, not responding to Jake yet you come in admonishing me but haven't said a word to mike who compared Jake to joeyboy.

I might actually bother to listen to you if you did the same thing to your buddies when they are exaggerating my position on things.....or if you stopped doing that yourself!

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se This is why people take issue with you.

Jake is not saying that's what is necessary. You exaggerate his point to bash him for it, and that's unfair. Improved play at the skill positions WOULD help Geno. And "improved play" could be as simple as "getting guys to be healthy for a full year for once," but acting like Geno with all his tools is the same player as Geno without Holmes & Kerley, Winslow, Hill for some games, Ivory for some games, etc. is misleading.

@MikeFrancesser@a57se@jake100

Well if we had 5 All Pro Offensive Linemen, two Rob Gronkowski clones, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and Adrian Peterson to help Geno out, we'd be able to get a fair evaluation.....How do OTHER teams DO IT????
